Estos últimos días he estado viendo otra vez la serie "El tiempo entre costuras", basada en la novela homónima escrita por María Dueñas. Para aquellos que no habéis oído nunca hablar de ella, os recomiendo encarecidamente que la leáis y os sumerjáis en la historia de Sira Quiroga, una costurera que decide seguir apasionadamente a su amante a Tetuán y huir de la Guerra Civil española. El destino acaba llevándola a crearse una nueva vida, abriendo un exitoso taller de alta costura para las expatriadas europeas. Cuando el servicio de inteligencia inglés se da cuenta de su posición privilegiada, le piden que vuelva a Madrid con una nueva identidad y que espíe a la ansiosa clientela compuesta por las esposas de los nazis, tejiendo una red de conspiración política, amor e intriga.
These last days I have been watching again the TV series 'The time in between', based upon the homonimous Spanish novel writen by María Dueñas. For those ones who have never heard of it, I strongly recommend you to read it and plunge into the story of Sira Quiroga, a seamstress that impetuously follows his lover to Tetuán and runs away from the Spanish Civil War. The fade forces her to reinvent herself, creating a successful haute couture atelier for the European expatriates. When English intellingence notices her priveleged possition, she is asked to return to Madrid with a new identity and spy an eager clientele of Nazi officers' wives, weaving a web of political conspiracy, love and intrigue.
Además de esta apasionante historia, cada una de las páginas de este libro merecen la pena por la atmósfera que la autora recrea, y lo mismo ocurre con la serie de televisión. Un mundo de espionaje queda aderezado con la elegancia de los años 30 y 40, en la que las creaciones de Sira brillan por sí solas. Aquí os enseño una muestra de sus misteriosos y elegantes diseños, que reflejan un estilo clásico reinventado a base de toques orientales (turbantes, ojos ahumados, pantalones palazzo...). Os invito a ver al menos uno de los sensacionales episodios de la serie porque, podéis creerme, caeréis enamoradas desde su comienzo.
Besides this undoubtedley thrilling story, this book is worthy every page for the atmosphere that the author creates, and so is the TV show. A world of espionage is garnished with 30s and 40s elegance, in which Sira's creations stream out by themselves. Here I show you a sample of her misterous, fancy designs, which reflect an old style reinvented with some oriental touches (turbans, smokey eyes, palazzo pants...).I invite you to watch at least one of its sensational episodes, because, believe me, you will fall in love with it from its very beginning.
